I have been working on my family tree several years and have hit a wall
with my progress. Last known data ends with my great great grandfather:
Manuel Jose deBettencourt b. MAY 13 1826 m. Anna Josquina b. June 15 1834
Sao Jose... hoping to find connection one day
Hi Melinda,
I'm one of your matches.
I got my results today and haven´t uploaded my tree yet. I have more than
20 matches.

I am looking for information about the book Marriages of Cedros, Faial,
Acores, Parish of Santa Barbara 1628-1891 by Lionel P. Silva. My searches
so far have identified one copy in the research library of the Univ of Mass
but they don't distribute it as a loaner. I live in northern California
Two male relatives on two different sides of my ancestors have similar Y-DNA
results-all Northern European. One has no matches for the YDNA-37 markers,
only 12 and 25. The second has four 37 marker matches, all at 4 steps.
Neither has matches with people with Portuguese surnames listed. Both are

Good to hear you are still doing your genealogy Bill! Have you tried the
www.hathitrust.org website? I didn’t look myself but you might find it there.
This is the U of Mich website I believe and it has Familias da Faialenses by
Marcelino Lima.
Good luck, Rosemarie

I was young when I first started doing genealogy, now that I am in my late
40's my memory is not what it use to be. So a suggestion is to document
everything you find and don't assume you will remember it later!!! I am
coming across NOW research that I did, and did not document and can't
Very good advice, Pam.I often find notes made in the first few years of doing genealogy that I wish I had better documented.Or worse, I wrote no notes for it and have no idea where I got that data. Most of the time, someone told me something and I never bothered to confirm it.Drink a lot of coffee
Hi Bill Silver,
If you will post the information on who you would like to find marriage
information for perhaps one of us has it for you. I have marriages from Cedros,
Faial 1628 - 1891 by L.P. Silva in my genealogy files someplace. You have to
supply dates etc.

Many thanks, Emil. Just curious, at 159 pages he can't have translated all
the entries so is it a summary of the main data? I understand it is in
English.

Yep, 81 and still at it. It just takes more time and I have less patience
with doing the translations. I will try the website you suggest. Any
chance you'll be in Salt Lake next year for the Azores genealogy meeting?

Eddie, I would give the DNA a whirl especially the FamilyFinder and YDNA. I am
