Yes, that's the name, Eliseu. It's pretty rare. I have only 15 people in my database with that name. They range from the 1600s to the 1800s, at least those I have found.I have never seen it as a first name. It's always like the example Rick found, Maria da Porciúncula.Doug da Rocha HolmesPico & Terc
I've never seen this "name" either, Rick, but it looks to me like
"Perceumciela;" I can' find either synonym, or definition, for it; perhaps
someone else is familiar with it.

There were 2 sets of papers. The first papers (Declaration of Intent) and
the 2nd papers (Petition for Citizenship). Even though they are very
similar, ask for ANY AND ALL paperwork. Depending on the rules of that

Cheri,
It is the Portuguese form of the German Wenceslaus.
The Wenceslas is probably missing the "u" or is a corrupt spelling of
Wenceslaus but by the pronunciation I would say it is the same.

Kalani posted this for the Portuguese Hawaiian researchers and I'm copying
it here.
It contains charts that explains how much is inherited for a parent, full
sibling, 3rd cousin, etc.
It's not a quick read, so make sure you have some time to digest it. (It's
not long, but is a bit technical).

If it is, that is a new one for me. Some early “M”s look like that but the
writer wrote his Maria’s and Manuel’s different.

The one on the right? If I had to take a guess, I'd guess it's the
Portuguese version of Wenceslas. If it is, throw a party that you don't
have an ancestor named Manuel, Francisco, Jose, Joao, or Antonio! LOL

Oh, I am so excited! Thank you. Now I can really get to work. I've made
