Joanne,
I descend from Manuel Martins de Gouveia and Maria da Luz married in Rabo
de Peixe on 11 feb 1820.
This line goes back to Antonio da Silva Moniz m. to Maria Fernandes in Rabo
de Peixe on 7 jul 1681. Maria Fernandes is the daughter of Manuel Martins
de Gouveia and Ursula Fernandes.
Hello,
I would appreciate someone helping with the translation for a side note.
The baptism record is for manuel, bottom right side of page. Thank you

Manoel,
It looks like I do, too! I knew once the Rabo de Peixe records were released I
wouldn’t have a difficult time finding ancestors in my Mom’s maternal line.
However I’ve seen Maria’s name written a few different ways - is it the same
person?

Aaron,
The side note is not related to Manuel's baptism. The priest is entering a
record for a another child, Maria whom they may have neglected to record
its initial registry and could not find it in the book. She's the daughter
of Francisco Antonio and Eufrosina de Jesus.
Best,
Margaret
Joanne,
I don´t think it is the same person.
Tell me what you have found about your ancestors and I will try to figure
out how we are connected.

IfI'm reading thiscorrectly, the recordon the right, my Francisco Raposo married Umbellina Franciscaon 11 July 1802 in Sao Jose, and he was baptized in NS da Assuncao inisland of Santa Maria. I will need to do some double and triple checking, but this is likely my first ancestor born outside Sao
Good job on the translation.
Yes he was baptized in NS da Assuncao in Santa Maria. That is where you should
make a careful search. To find his baptism I first would start at 11 Jul 1770
and search back from there If you go any more than two years back then I would
start searching forward
You are welcome!
Now go get him!. :)

Herb,I would start with the assumption she could be as young as 15. While searching for her, also look for any of her siblings. You are bound to find some.Boa sorte.Doug da Rocha HolmesSacramento, CaliforniaPico Terceira Genealogist916-550-1618www.dholmes.com

Pam,
I agree it is interesting, I found a similar article in reference to
Portugal.

That is cool. I am pretty sure once of my ancestors from Spain who came to
New Mexico might of been Jewish. But I think they said in qualifications to
show proof I wouldn't meet. since I don't practice. You would think they
would still honor the ones that had to convert to catholic.
