Either that, or the groom is from Calheta de Nesquim and the bride is from
somewhere else.

This is the marriage record, the 3rd down on the right side, of my ancestors Manuel de Oliveira and Maria Benevides from 1668. I don't think priests were listing the names of the parents of the bride and groom during this period, but can anyone make out the witnesses names or any other
Wow! so much more help than I could have asked for. Thank you all.
On the baptism I posted that states ja defunto, I thought that only would
pertain to Maria Josefa since it was stated immediately following her name.
Those maternal grandparents (Antonio & Maria) are not in my direct line
I've seen twins listed both ways.

Can't make out the abbreviation for the father of the bride either. The
mother of the bride is Maria Escolastica Victorina.

My Joseph Correa was born 22 May 1860 in Cape Verde, Portugal. He
immigrated to Hilo Hawaii. The Passenger list said he departed from St

Is there a way to get Joseph's birth info. I am trying to find his parents?
Thank, Cindy

It looks to me as if it says "ja defuntos" on the record-- though the "s"
isn't prominent-- so it would indicate both Maria Josefa and Antonio Jose
have died.
I read "Lucas" in the father's name in all three baptismal records. In
Maria Josefa's obit, I read her father as "Antonio Jose Lucas".
HI Cindy,
The Cape Verde islands are NOT part of the Azores islands or the Madeira
islands. They used to be owned by Portugal, but today, Cape Verde is its
own African nation.
Sao Vicente is one of the Cape Verde islands. But that doesn't mean he was
born there. That may be the port that the
True. I have twins in my family and they were listed together.

I'm trying to find the parents of this bride in the following record. On
the right page (91) line 18 starts with Maxima Victorina, filha de Jose
I can't make out the father's middle name or the mother's middle
name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Barb
In my experience twins are listed together rather than as two seperate
baptisms.
