Sandra, it doesn't sound like an Italian name. I looked it up in the book, *Our Italian Surnames *by Joseph G. Fucilla and there is nothing close. I also looked it up in *Portuguese Paleography*, nothing close either. Looked also in my Portuguese to English dictionary and nothing closer than baldao
