In the Acores his name is spelled Joao Machado. To get a better idea as to
where he came from the 1910 and 1920 US Census should give you a better
indication as to when he immigrated to the US. If you can find him on the Ellis
island web site coming into this country you can backtrack to the Pas

Maria do Carmo was supposed to have died and Joao dos Santos Botelho
remarried. I cannot find her death or his remarriage. They
had daughter, Maria Augusta Cabral, who ended up in Brazil. She was the
great-grandmother of my DNA match in Brazil. The story is

That depends which one you're referring to. there's father an son,
Manuel dos Santos married tona Jacinta de Oliveira Martins is the son of
Manuel dos Sanros and Maria de Sequeira Naborges.

Did a sweep of the records and did not find them at all. They must have
moved elsewhere. Do you have Maria Agusta's passport record? When did she
leave from Brasil? It should give a clue as to whom she was living with and
the location.

Miguel, Azores. The parents on the marriage record are not the same
couple, and it only states Portugal.

Passports. Maria Augusta's family. Passport # 786. Passenger group:
1937-1941. Perhaps more family went around that time but I didn't find it
yet.
