Hi JR,
You always amaze me. How in the heck do you keep track of all these lines?
Must be one heck of a database.
Thank you and I certainly would appreciate the line.
Best regards,

The child's father is Jose Maria Teixeira.
The two named Manuel Jose on this record are the priest (da Silva) and the

OK, but now that you've directed this email to me, I'm probably the only
one who will answer. Yeah, I thought you were talking about finding aids on
Sao Jorge island because you got yourself off of Sao Miguel!
Dad is Manuel Jose Teixeira. He's native of the island of Sao Jorge. You
have mom right.
Okay, starting a new thread. I'm more than rusty not having searched for
quite a while. I believe this is the baptism for Maria Jose born 1842.

Lillian, I don't know where "here" is, as I can't see what you are thinking
in your head. You provided a link to baptisms on Sao Miguel island, not the
finding aids of Sao Jorge island.
I can't screen shot it, as the drop down menus don't stay "stuck."

Lillian, you need to go to the AzoresGenWeb site,
http://www.worldgenweb.org/azrwgw/, and download the map for Sao Jorge.
Just looking at your info I would say to start to look in Santa Barbara da
Manadas, Councelho of Velas. You need to get familiar with the villages and
church names.

Lillian,
Go to the Azores GenWeb and check for indices and other finding aids for
Sao Jorge island. The Azores GenWeb gal, Kathy Cardoza, has been adding
them as she receives them. Cheri

Thank you so much! Hope I can find records for Sao Jorge. This is a whole

There is what you might call a neighborhood in Lajes on Pico called
Almagreira. It is not a separate parish. A couple of other neighborhoods
in Lajes are Rua Nova and Rua do Meio. At least sometimes these
neighborhoods show up on birth records. Perhaps someone else knows the
