Kristie, No, a birth date is the day the baby was born. The baptism date is the day the baby was baptized into the Catholic Church. Some babies are born and baptized the same day. Most are baptized days to a couple of weeks after they are born. The 3rd and 2nd time periods give both birth and bapt

Bill and Judy, Wow, thanks for the start. I am feeling quite overwhelmed. I have been doing genealogy for a long time and have not gotten that far on the Portuguese side of the family, which is my maternal grandmother's entire side. So, in general, the baptismal date is like to be the birth date?
