Hi Mario or Billy, You are looking a church records. They are done by date. If it's a baptism, they are going by baptism date. So they are chronological. It may take more than 2 days to get used to it though. Silva/Silvia and things like that, you'll get use to it. If you know your dad was Maria

I grew up in São Miguel and have done the Volta a Ilha many times, before they built the highway. The back roads are still my favourite way to travel, we often stay off the highway, in this way we always find small treasures, whether a restaurant, a coffee shop or a beach, there’s always something!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions for my trip to the Azores in May.  Such good ideas! If anyone has specifics about car rental, people who give tours, places to see in FAIAL (Feteira is where grandpa is from) and PICO (which is where more distant relatives are from), I would appreciate it.

Rent a car. It is easy to drive there, hard to get lost on an island (usually one perimeter highway and a couple that go across), and you will be free to go (or stay) wherever you want and hang out for as long as you want. This is especially the case on São Miguel and Pico, which are pretty big
