I just joined this group so forgive me if this is not an appropriate request. I found a marriage record for my great grandparents, I think. It seems my great grandfaher's surname was Ramos, not Francis. I am trying to verify this information. My problem is in trying to decipher the handwriti

Thanks Cheri. I am now trying to figure out the original surname (from Sao Miguel). It would seem my great grandfather's father was Jose F (Francisco?) da Camara. When I Googled "da Camara" I get info on the ancestry of João Rodrigues da Câmara from Sao Miguel (born 1460). So in this example,
