Sam,
They are ms word (.doc) files within zip files. You need to use PKunzip,
winzip or winRAR to open them. Most of the programs are free for at least a
trial period.
Once you open them in MS Word, you can do a search for names.

Would you be willing to enlighten us as to how to get to them? I poked
around but didn't find anything that looked like a baptism record.
Thanks,
Cheryl

in Portuguese can make a better translate of the terms.
The data I was copying was the baptismos, casamentos from the 'IG'
section. I never have been to section you were at in the CCA website.

Thanks, is there a trick to using this site? I looked at the passports and
then got to the page I believe the guy should be on, but the page is really
unreadable as it only allows slight magnification and you can't save the
image.
Anyone have some reasonable success with another method to

I had a copy a few years ago. Had bought it for my dad, but he found it too
difficult to use. That's not to say it was just him, but at that time he
was actually trying new things.
Perhaps they have a trial version that you can try. Often if you go to

Sam,
Does your local library have audio books? If you are looking for some
conversation words, perhaps you could download an audio book and listen.
That way you would have the pronunciation as well.
I have seem mp3's for all sorts of languages available.
