GedMatch, a third party tool site for DNA, has been bought out by
Verogen, forensic
genomics company that serves the law enforcement community. So far, nothing
has changed in their Terms of Service. One just needs to log into GedMatch
and agree
Many of us have transferred or tested at the major DNA testing companies,
so we log directly in to find our matches. Only about 20% of people from
each company upload to GedMatch, so that's like looking at only 20% of your
matches. GedMatch's best feature is its tools. They have different
admixture

I think that Cheri explained all of that yesterday with pics! I have a hard
time with it all but it was a very good explanation. Check the list from
yesterday, it has lots of pictures with explanations on the 'how-to'.

complete tree (Gedcom) from my genealogy program and activate the Parental
Matching feature at FTDNA to see what those tools do. Then maybe I'd
consider the advanced tools at GedMatch.

Yes, the Jewish genealogists made a HUGE push to get DNA tested hence they
seem to the group with the most matches. Not unusual at all.

Ashkenazi Jews and people with ancestry from the British Isles are the two
groups that I believe test the most. I have quite a few matches on
Gedmatch with Eastern European surnames a few I have verified
as Ashenazi Jews. There will be more Portuguese matches as more Portuguese
people test.
It's very frustrating. I'll try again, and yes Doug, I do have that many
matches. It's all on my father's side. For some reason ftDNA is top heavy
with Ashkenazi Jewish people.
