GedMatch, a third party tool site for DNA, has been bought out by
Verogen, forensic
genomics company that serves the law enforcement community. So far, nothing
has changed in their Terms of Service. One just needs to log into GedMatch
and agree
Many of us have transferred or tested at the major DNA testing companies,
so we log directly in to find our matches. Only about 20% of people from
each company upload to GedMatch, so that's like looking at only 20% of your
matches. GedMatch's best feature is its tools. They have different

Here is my GED kit # LH8702730. Any matches in this group?

Cheri,
Please, do not worry about it now. I have spent the afternoon with my Dell
Support Assist--. McAfee
was taking over my laptop. It is not that important at this moment.

Sandra, I will check your DNA for a phone number and call you 7pm PDT and
talk you through it. Or drop me an email at gfscherim at gmail.com with
some good days and times to call. Cheri

Sandra,
I think that Cheri explained all of that yesterday with pics! I have a hard
time with it all but it was a very good explanation. Check the list from
yesterday, it has lots of pictures with explanations on the 'how-to'.

*Gedmatch* is a site that you can compare your DNA to others who may have
tested their DNA at another company. You will need to upload your raw data

Probably a dumb question, but what do Gedcom & Gedmatch stand for?

Just curious as to why you are going out to Gedmatch. I'd upload my
complete tree (Gedcom) from my genealogy program and activate the Parental
Matching feature at FTDNA to see what those tools do. Then maybe I'd
consider the advanced tools at GedMatch.

I am trying to create a Gedmatch. Which option do I choose?
*Downloading from FamilyTreeDNA*:
1. From the pull-down menu “My DNA,” select “My FamilyFinder,” and then
“Raw Data.”
2. Select the following options.
1. Build 36 autosomal raw data and
2. Build 36 X chromosome data
Yes, the Jewish genealogists made a HUGE push to get DNA tested hence they
seem to the group with the most matches. Not unusual at all.

For options, such as changing to List,
Ashkenazi Jews and people with ancestry from the British Isles are the two
groups that I believe test the most. I have quite a few matches on
Gedmatch with Eastern European surnames a few I have verified
as Ashenazi Jews. There will be more Portuguese matches as more Portuguese
people test.
It's very frustrating. I'll try again, and yes Doug, I do have that many
matches. It's all on my father's side. For some reason ftDNA is top heavy
with Ashkenazi Jewish people.

Yes, Tish, but your upload may take longer or you may need to try a couple
of times to get it uploaded.
