The Luso American Education Foundation (LAEF) is having their convention this coming weekend, Friday - Sunday, March 11-13, 2016 in San Diego, California. Much of it is to be held in the Portuguese area of Point Loma, at the Portuguese hall there and at St. Agnes School, just a few blocks away.
Joao Ventura is speaking on Saturday, March 12, from 8:30-12:30 pm at St. Agnes School, Room 7. Attending his class is free. I believe it covers utilizing the Azorean records and how to read them. I cannot find an active link to the registration on the LAEF site (it's out of date). I do have the information in a 14 page PDF.
