Katherine, Perhaps Thomas Bettencourt is related to Urbano Bettencourt. Thomas was born in Piadade in 1867 and died in California USA in 1954. I'm trying to get a confirmation of some sort on his mother and father. I do have a picture of his father, but am unsure of his first name. no dates. Ros

Any chance your Thomas Bettencourt is related to the contemporary Azorean writer Urbano Bettencourt (full name Manuel Urbano Bettencourt Machado), who was born in Piedade in 1949 and is a proud Picoense (although lives on São Miguel nowadays)? If so, please let me know, as he is a friend. Kathari
