No. At first I thought it said his age was 34 years, but in fact it 
says,"Mel Vargas marido de Catherina Per.a....moreu e trinta Janeiro com 
todos acompanhamentos da igreja...sepultado em trinta hum de dito mez do 
anno de mil sete centos e trinta e coatro annos..." the rest is the number 
of prayers said for his soul. 
 So he died on Jan 30- 1734 and was buried the next day on the 31st. The 
side margin is about the number masses the deceased paid for, a note the 
priest kept for his own records to keep track of things.
