Flores and Corvo are only a couple of miles apart.

Baltazar is a native of the island of Corvo. The mom is from this same
freguesia (meaning the one Maria is baptized in).
Roiz/Rois is an abbreviation for Rodrigues.

Hello all,
Can anyone make out where Balthezar Pimental is from in the below baptism
record for his daughter Maria? From his marriage record, his parent's or
his wife's parents are from Lajedo Flores (Nossa Senhora dos Milagres).
Thanks so much Bill for the links to the additional marriage records and
translation of the family names - this is really helpful! I will keep looking
further back and see what I find.

Here is the second marriage of the same João Pimentel. This one says he is
natural of São Pedro, Ponta Delagda, Flores, just as you had indicated.
Either I misread the birthplace in his obit or the priest was mistaken.

Janet,
Queimado means burnt, sunburnt, tanned so maybe it's his alcunha
(nickname). Perhaps he was out in the sun a lot and was very tanned.

The margin note looks like it might be dos Ramos (written mor like raMos).
Was he born near a Palm Sunday? In the text though it does say queimado
just as you said other records give. I believe he is 54 years old (more or
less) and it say he is natural and resident of this parish of Nossa
