You need to do U.S. research to narrow down the freguesia (or council) on Sao Miguel. They have almost 70 churches. Looking for a Jose is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I don't know why you are saying Jose Mello went by Jose Achadinha. That's a place on Sao Miguel, although I have seen it

New to this sight. It's fantastic. Great grandfather Jose Mello aka Jose Jose Chadinha born about 1867 married Helena Ricarda and immigrated to US around turn o 19th to 20th century. His parents were Manuel Mello and Maria Carlotta. Anyone familiar with names? I'm flying blind! Thanks. -- You
