So a five months ago I emailed St. Patricks church in San Francisco looking for a marriage in 1886. Today I finally got a response, she sent me a certificate. I asked her if she could scan the original and send she said they use to be able to scan and mail but no longer are they allowed to because the pages are too fragile. So I then asked her if the original lists the name of parents or where they were from. She said yes and gave me that information. I then said I am kind of stumped I have no idea who this Jacob as the witness. She then said well the record is in Latin and she didn't know latin and spelled it out. Jacobus. So I googled translated it which means James, which was his brother. So I have been reading church records in latin for spanish records for years but never came across Jacobus (no spanish ancestors named James)
This is the 2nd marriage I have gotten from San Francisco the first marriage record for the year 1864!!!!
