I don't know that Dano types with diacritics. I know he meant Piné and not
Pine (as in the tree).
Interesting point about the Piné name. As far as I know (in my research)
the Mello Pinés stayed in Ribeira Quente until they left for America. I

Another possibility might be Pinheiro (which means "pine tree" in
Portuguese). When I grew up in Fresno there was a local undertaker Art Pine
