And bad news for the 2,000 people who will be let go... 420 from factual television, and 470 will go from News. Multimedia will expand, and they are selling TVC. It all makes sense. Who needs at *television* centre when all you really want to do is to dive into the multimedia (digital)

I've never quite been able to work out the specifics of the deal (see Eyes *passim*, as they say), but Television Centre (and several other BBC buildings) passed back into BBC hands a few years after that deal, and the facilities management contract with Land Securities has ended. While it's good
