would have minor bug fixes/improvements and some new features. If so,
then I should be confident in upgrading from 2.1.1 to 3.0.0 and not have
any problems, right?

Thanks to all your inputs. After setting the $Conf{FullPeriod} and
$Conf{IncrPeriod} appropriately, it has worked fine.
Another quick question: When we do a backup of a same folder via SMB
and observe the log file, we see that the number of bytes backed up is
correctly reported in the LOG file:
