It's a great idea, but I cannot use this on W2K or older, but I have an
idea:
I can write a batch file that (the first time) copy all PST files into a

I assume "Total de bytes escritos" is some sort of success message in
your language, but just as I can't be sure, I doubt that backuppc can be

Hi,
I was succesfully running BackupPC for almost one year to backup a Windows
laptop (using smb) and the backup server itself to a second hard disk (using
tar method). For an (until now) unknown reason, the Windows backups keep
running fine but the localhost are now failing. I have deleted all

I accidentally replied to a different topic instead of writing a new
message. Here is my question from the original post:
Hi,
This is a very basic question... After reading the docs, I am unclear
on the difference between an incremental backup and a full backup.

Hi,
This is a very basic question... After reading the docs, I am unclear
on the difference between an incremental backup and a full backup.
Since the backups are stored in a pool which stores JUST the
difference between the older and newer files, than what is the
difference then?
Thanks,
Yaakov.
I use a batch file then have that batch file run each night about 15 minutes
before my backups start.
Create a file called kill_outlook.bat or whatever you want as long as it
ends with a .bat.
In this file place the following
taskkill /im outlook.exe
Then in Scheduled Tasks (control panel) creat

with a cron for windows (http://cronw.sourceforge.net/), you can backup

BackupPc often isn't able to backup pst file, because the file is still
open.
Do you know a workaround to backup these files ? (a way to kill outlook
or something else)

Large magnets work very well to kill Outlook.
Humor aside, it's a difficult problem. Sear

BackupPC doesn't allow you to be that specific. It is designed for you
to allow windows of time where backups can occur, and minimum times
between backups, and the software schedules the backups accordingly.
The advantage in this design is that if there is a loss of power or
network connectivity,

I'm a new BackupPC's user, and I don't understand how can I schedule a
backup.
For example: I have a notebook , and I'd like to backup ONLY it at 13:00
every week (incremental) on saturday and every month for a full backup.
How can I do it ?
I find only these option, but I don't know how to set t

You need to use some sort of mailing system, whether it be sendmail,
postfix, exim, etc. You will need to configure it to send mail through
a "smarthost". The smarthost is your ISP's mail server. The process
would then go like this:
1) BackupPC sends email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
2) sendmail (or p
Thanks, you are right I should have tried, I use uid=root now and that works.
