Hello Everyone,
I am currently trying to backup a windows 2008 file server via rsyncd. I am
having an issue with performance. The data on the server is around 1 TB which
is all user files. I have been trying to run a full backup of the server for
several days without success. The backup ran
FWIW, I've found that different builds of rsync/d and Cygwin differ
*dramatically* in their performance on Windows.
By dramatically, I mean after switching out my rsync binaries, a
representative full backup went from 220 minutes to 95, and a
representative incremental backup went from 200
also, you could be looking at rsync file number limitations. though there
is no real hard number on file count that rsync can track, it needs a lot of
ram when those numbers start getting up to a million+.

I kid you not!
My cygwin1.dll version is 1007.0.0.0; all the binaries were provided by a
different member of this list, who is using a similar system of ad-hoc VSS
and launching the rsync daemon on-the-fly.
To (hopefully) save you some poking around in the archives, here's the
complete package:

What version are you using?
If it helps, I'm running Deltacopy 1.3, which bundles rsync for
windows, under Vista and XP on different clients. I'm running backups
with rsyncd method and a typical full backups last for about 145
minutes and contains

I've got a fresh install of Backuppc - and it's pretty much running fine, the
only thing I've configured that makes it different from the standard install is
the $topdir which I've pointed at a specific volume /data

Just be careful when using this version of cygwin1.dll. It was made from the
latest development release a couple of months ago and even though it's
1007.0.0.0, it's not the same as the one made available from
http://www.cygwin.com/ (which is still not final). It seems to work but I'd
verify the
