i'm prepared to try backuppc4, storing to a (rhel8) VDO (block level dedup) volume, thinking it may dedup significant portions of large files that are mostly but not completely the same. is this sensible? Why or why not? Beyond just dedup, should i expect better performance with VDO compression, backuppc compression, both, or neither? in your answer are you considering space performance primarily, or time performance primarily? Please explain? Thank you! i expect a pool size of roughly 1t.
