Hi there

I have 2 servers at a client that are being backed up by backuppc, Server1 (Linux server – fileserver and backuppc) and Server2 (Win2k server – fileserver). They have an extremely large amount of data that is being backed up, approximately 470Gb of data. Backuppc ran successful backups on localhost (Server1 = 234Mb) and Server2 (Win2k server = 232Mb). I dump an archive to an 500Gb LaCie Firewire800 external drive for offsite backup once a week. Below is the log of the first archive I ran, which was a full dump of Server2 on its own. The archive ran for 521 minutes?! IS THIS NORMAL?

Xfer PIDs are now 17095

The localhost took from 7am this morning until about 6pm to complete a full backup of itself = 234 Mb. I just started a full archive of the localhost to the external drive, which should take till tomorrow morning 7am. IS THIS NORMAL?

I do understand that they have quite a large amount of data that needs to be backed up…. So it will take time for sure, but maybe somebody could suggest a way for me optimize backuppc?!

Please let me know iuf you need more info, I might not have given enough info people to understand my problem/question?!

Many Thanks in advance!
