I'm resurrecting an old thread about a patch I submitted some time
ago. The idea was to implement "poll" (or "empty") jobs that do
nothing but check backup intervals, and then implement a
"MaxIncrInterval" analagous to "MaxDiffInterval" and
"MaxFullInterval".
Reasons to use this:

The posting method is what makes sense to you. I don't have any religion on
that subject -- except that after about 4 or 5 posts with responses mixed in,
it can get a bit complicated
[top posting since that seems to be the preference.]
There might well be some cases where it would be useful to have "poll"
jobs to kick off what are currently "admin" jovs. However, I'm not
sure that would work well given the current split between different
job types -- if it starts off as an a
Hello Morty,
This is just to let you know that I have received these patches. The MaxDiff
problem *should* now be fixed in the SVN. It took me several tries :-(.
Concerning the Poll, I like the concept, but I would like to think about this
some more. What bothers me is that this is a very sp
Hello Morty,
I would like to respond to your questions in a bit of detail, but I am
travelling today and tomorrow, and Saturday I am in a meeting all day, so I
will answer Sunday. Please have patience, but if you do not hear from me by

I sent a feature request to bacula-users a week ago, but saw no
comments. Got impatient and coded it. Probably

I was trying to improve handling for laptops and other devices that go
away for the night.

Hello,
I am sorry, but it is not clear what you are doing here, in particular why you
are adding a maxincinterval and what a "POLL" job is.
Best regards,

Oh, I think I see the problem. I've *never* run a differential on
this client. That's a problem here

I'm testing bacula 3.0.0, built from source with sqlite3, on a Debian
5.0 box. It's configured to run incrementals every minute on a small
dir, with:
MaxFullInterval=4 minutes
MaxDiffInterval=2 minutes
But stat dir shows:
