while the last virtual full backup Bacula exits with the following
error, anyone with suggestions what may cause this and how to fix it?
1. after several OK reports in the log like this:

I don't think you can tell bacula-fd to not wait.
If you are interested in debugging it, you could use lsof to see what
bacula-fd has open while it is waiting and then see which other processes are
connected to it (probably via pipes, where lsof prints some hex number
identifying the pipe). Addin

repository.
I would like to get the a newer version, preferably 9.X
Is there any CentOs bacula repository out there that I can trust and use
for keeping my bacula installation up to date?

I would recommend that you consider doing an upgrade to 9.4.1, because
from 9.0.x to 9.4.x, we have
fixed a number of bugs with Virtual full backups, and significantly
improved how it works, particularly
when using virtual full in conjunction with accurate mode.

It needs some changes and checks due to Cloud S3 new feature in latest
release.
