that version, although some are older (the oldest being v5.0.0 on a CentOS
6 legacy system, I think.) So if the error was introduced in v9.6.x I

possibly legacy behavior that hasn't been fixed yet? Microsoft has been
belatedly getting away from allowing this. It's analogous to storing
configs in /*/bin instead of /etc.
