Hi, I purged some volumes of a failed backup and manually changed the state to recycle. Now I see this in the bacula log:
11-Feb 08:19 VU0EA003-sd JobId 9460: Recycled volume "A00045L4" on device "ULTRIUM-TD4-D2" (/dev/ULTRIUM-TD4-D2), all previous data lost. 11-Feb 08:19 VUMEM004-dir JobId 9460: Max configured use duration exceeded. Marking Volume "A00045L4" as Used. The volume state changed to used, right after the volume was recycled. This is no problem right now, because the job is using the volume util it's full. But I would like to know why this happens. +---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+ | mediaid | volumename | volstatus | enabled | volbytes | volfiles | volretention | recycle | slot | inchanger | mediatype | lastwritten | +---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+ | 107 | A00045L4 | Used | 1 | 96,993,792,000 | 97 | 4,579,200 | 1 | 79 | 1 | LTO4 | 2009-02-11 08:57:09 | | 108 | A00046L4 | Recycle | 1 | 945,554,125,824 | 947 | 4,579,200 | 1 | 80 | 1 | LTO4 | 2008-12-08 10:47:49 | The detailed status of the volume which is in use right now: *llist media=A00045L4 mediaid: 107 volumename: A00045L4 slot: 79 poolid: 33 mediatype: LTO4 firstwritten: 2008-12-06 19:26:16 lastwritten: 2009-02-11 08:57:32 labeldate: 2009-02-10 13:19:57 voljobs: 1 volfiles: 98 volblocks: 1,518,999 volmounts: 6 volbytes: 97,993,728,000 volerrors: 0 volwrites: 70,163,944 volcapacitybytes: 0 volstatus: Used enabled: 1 recycle: 1 volretention: 4,579,200 voluseduration: 432,000 maxvoljobs: 0 maxvolfiles: 0 maxvolbytes: 0 inchanger: 1 endfile: 97 endblock: 15,499 volparts: 0 labeltype: 0 storageid: 20 deviceid: 0 locationid: 0 recyclecount: 4 initialwrite: scratchpoolid: 0 recyclepoolid: 0 comment and the status of the volume that will be used next (I think): *llist media=A00046L4 mediaid: 108 volumename: A00046L4 slot: 80 poolid: 33 mediatype: LTO4 firstwritten: 2008-12-06 19:26:16 lastwritten: 2008-12-08 10:47:49 labeldate: 2008-12-06 19:26:16 voljobs: 3 volfiles: 947 volblocks: 14,657,026 volmounts: 5 volbytes: 945,554,125,824 volerrors: 0 volwrites: 68,439,057 volcapacitybytes: 0 volstatus: Recycle enabled: 1 recycle: 1 volretention: 4,579,200 voluseduration: 432,000 maxvoljobs: 0 maxvolfiles: 0 maxvolbytes: 0 inchanger: 1 endfile: 946 endblock: 10,837 volparts: 0 labeltype: 0 storageid: 3 deviceid: 0 locationid: 0 recyclecount: 4 initialwrite: scratchpoolid: 0 recyclepoolid: 0 comment: Is it the firstwritten time that is used for the volume use duration? That wouldn't make sense because it's still 2008-12-06....
