The Technical Aide is evaluated by the Visual & Performing Arts Chairperson and the High School Principal. * The job as Design Technology aide will be a demanding one requiring the appointed person to undertake a rigorous training program in the safety and use of equipment and to work alongside the teacher in practical workshop sessions. The role will not involve any teaching but will require interaction between aide and students and general observation in the workshop when machinery and equipment is being used. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Indonesian citizen 2. High school graduate, College graduate is preferable 3. Work experience in a similar type of position. 4. Fluent in written and spoken English (for communication of "best, safe practice" with students, and to ensure effective, precise and efficient understanding in training sessions.) 5. A willingness to be trained in the use and maintenance of a wide range of wood, metal and plastics working equipment. 6. An enquiring mind - a curiosity about how things work and an interest in things of a technical and practical nature. 7. Prior training, experience in engineering, metalwork, woodworking, etc. 8. Good organizational skills, sense of priorities and time management. 9. Understands and carries out oral and written directions. 10. Some computer skills preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Communicates regularly and effectively with the teaching faculty. 2. Is available for duties at all times during the work-day and when set tasks have been completed shows initiative in finding additional duties. Daily duties include: · Initial preparation of raw materials for student use, both group and individual work. This will involve using equipment that is too dangerous for inexperienced students to use - radial arm saw, power planer, thicknesser, moulder, circular saw etc. · Assist in the observation and guidance of students using permitted machinery and power tools - help ensure that safer working methods are being employed. · When no students are present help maintain a safe, clean and well-organized workshop: a) Build specialist storage and equipment b) Maintain stock of materials, fittings and equipment c) Do minor servicing and repairs d) Check tools and equipment at the end of the day e) Keep a sense of humor · Fetching warehouse supplies as indicated by teachers. · Preparing and collecting resources from the AV room for teachers, including: - Overhead transparencies - TV, VCR, DVD, cassette player/recorder - Laminating and binding books * Checking stationery stock regularly * Taking telephone messages and putting in writing if the teacher is not available. * Reporting problems or delays to teacher/Head of Department. * Following up work orders. * Translating English to Bahasa Indonesia or vice versa. * Handling Stock, including checking new arrivals, recording, comparing with purchase order, stamping and cataloguing, storing and reporting progress and anomalies to Head of Department; liaison with Purchasing Department. * Updating inventories of stock * Liaising with library staff as needed 3. Learns and applies pertinent JIS policies, rules and regulations with good judgment in a variety of situations. 4. Establishes and maintains cooperative, positive relationships with those involved in the course of their work. 5.
