think this is new behavior for pppd.
I had another problem you might have seen. This weekend, I traveled to
a region (north Mississippi) that
did not have Verizon EVD0 service although 1xRTT was available. pppd

I don't know. I've seen this done in other setups and assumed it was
the preferred option. I'll experiment without it and see what happens.

I got the new CVS source distribution and built barry on a newly
installed Ubuntu 8.04 system.
No issues with the compile (thanks for the tips Chris Frey).
My Blackberry is a Verizon 8703e. It has the unlimited internet option
and I have been using it
tethered using barry and XmBlackBerry with
