I don't think bash's completion features support something like that,
and I'm not sure if I would want to see something like that myself in
the first place.

Another idea might be when the user hits TAB
have this kind of list appear:
--bla (-b)
--snorf (-s)
etc.
or
--bla (-b), --snorf (-s),
etc.
