Hello,

I am fed up with one point in Emacs and it is encoding issues.

And as a part of the Emacs system, BBDB is not safe on that point.

My main problem is I definitely don't know which encoding system to use
for my BBDB file.

I tried several from iso-2022-jp to mule-utf-8 (with test for
iso-latin-1, iso-latin-0,...) withtout success.

So what is the *best* or the *recommended* coding system to use for
BBDB knowing that my contacts are world wide.

I have several Russians, Japanese, German... and also French people
living peacefully in my BB database. I have so many issues with
their names, I am stink with BBDB and Emacs (sometimes).

So how would you handle my coding issue if you knew I can
have people with 'î', 'é', japanese character sets, Russians ?

One more thing, I am always asked to change name of several contact
even if 'visually' there is no difference between the original and the
new one. How can I stop BBDB to behave this way ?

Thank you in advance,
