I have realized that what I said above was not quite correct. The function bbdb-create-internal makes more sense than what I thought. I realized that it is even used once by BBDB 3; and then I had to refresh my memories how the different pieces of code are working together. So the bottom line is that now I am quite convinced that it does make sense for the bbdb vcard interface to use bbdb-create-internal I am currently rather busy with other things.
