Okay I can hit my forehead. I now realize that I don't have to type
the leading "<" for autocomplete.

If I autocomplete or etc. etc. I'm getting an extra "<" at
the beginning of the expression. This has to be something simple. I
thought maybe TextExpander was interfering with BBEdit's completion
but that's not it. Hurry up and tell me what it is so I can slap my
forehead LOL.

Thanks, Rich
OK, I can do that. I also found the Pref setting to return to the
modal dialog. Not quite sure why the non-modal dialog was inferior. It
comes up easily with CMD-F and goes away when you click Find, etc.
Works for me...
But, I really DO like the ability to edit inside the multi-find

For some reason, I am getting the following error while using BBEdit
version 9.0.1, running Mac OS X 10.5.5:
You do not have sufficient privileges to perform this operation (MacOS
Error code: -5000)
I get this error about every 10-60 seconds. I can hit "ok", and it
goes away, only to reappear l

It is not currently possible to have the HTML Translate too
automatically encode double quotes.

I almost always use Multi-file Search, but still hit CMD-f instead of
CMD-F. Why doesn't a CMD-m in this dialog bring up the the multi-file
version of Search? Better yet would be some sort of checkbox or
something to switch the Find/Replace dialog back and forth between the
two formats.

OK, I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I am using BBEdit
9.02 on a fully updated 10.5 Mac. Just installed the update from 8.x.
Now that it has Autocomplete, I started paying attention to clippings.
I added a couple of new clipping files to the HTML set, and was
working with them in a do
Hello,
The goal is to use a Unix filter to not only use Tidy, but also to get
rid of empty lines.
I use tidy with a configuration file through Unix filters.
here is my tidyconfig.txt:

indent-spaces: 4
wrap: 0
tidy-mark: no
char-encoding: utf8
here is the command is use from within
While autocomplete correctly autocompletes HTML tags in an existing
document I created in BBEdit 9.02, it does not complete tags in a new
document, even after I save it as foo.html. Autocompletion for
dictionary words works. How do I get HTML autocompletion to work in a
new document?

Isn't anyone using this feature? How?
I have a selection, like this string:
"remove"
(including the quote marks).
I use the command
Markup > Utilities > Translate...
which is set to
-text to HTML
-HTML entitites
-Name
-Selection Only
and when I hit the 'translate' button, then *nothing* happens.

If your project have differing file names, you can just add them all
to the search paths. We try to cache the search
Thanks Steve. It's a bit clunky - I'll have to change the option
