There's a further issue there. Mail's "rich text" mode (someone told me that feature was dropped in a previous version and that it only does HTML now, but I don't use Mail so I don't know) is/was actually "text/enriched" which is totally different from RTF, so the issue was probably moot to beg

QuickCursor (http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/products/quickcursor/) will open a temporary BBEdit document from many sources, allbeit with the entire text. I'm typing in BBEdit right now, with the source being Gmail's edit window in Safari. (It doesn't work in FireFox.) "Save" from the temporary doc

A related free app that will open a temporary new BBEdit document, albeit with the entire text, not a selection, is QuickCursor (http:// www.hogbaysoftware.com/products/quickcursor/). Saving from the temporary document will replace the text in the original. Closing just closes with no "discard"
