You shouldn't mess with those unless you were specifically
advised to.
They are documented in the help
Downloaded the latest BBEdit 10.5.7 and ran the expert preferences to set:
defaults write com.barebones.bbedit Filing:EnableAutoSave_v2 -bool YES
defaults write com.barebones.bbedit Filing:AutoSaveIntervalInMinutes_v2
-int 1
However, it still isn't auto-saving. What's up?

When you drag a URL from a browser's address bar to the desktop, the Finder
makes a webloc file. It used to be that if I opened one of those with
bbedit, it would open as a document, revealing the URL text which I could
edit and save.
Don't know if this changed with snow leopard or with BBEdit
I waited until I had the 9.0 version in hand to try to make this comment.
I use another editor that also has a non-modal Search/Replace dialog, really
quite similar to the BBEdit 9 dialog, but with an important enhancement that
takes care of the problem that seems to have vexed a lot of users.
In re. the complaints about performance of auto-completion and other
performance issues, I suggest using one of the following files, which
are easily and publicly available, as a test-bed.
