Sorry for the late response, but I have found that if I control-click on the
file in question and say open with BBEdit, she workee.

I created an Automator application which has two actions "Launch Application
BBEdit.app" and "Open Files in BBEdit". I called it BBShunt.app and set it as
the default external editor in Transmit.
