Depending on your firmware version, there is a script for updating the boot
loader:
sudo /opt/scripts/tools/update_bootloader.sh
Anyway, consider if such update could be risky.

I use these two commands:
sudo reboot # located at /sbin/reboot
sudo poweroff # located at /sbin/poweroff
I have not detected any file corruption until now.
More info typing man poweroff (if man not installed, type sudo apt-get
install man).
