Does the BBB USB have the bandwidth to use a cheap webcam? I've been
looking into this for a while and the answer seems to be no. I have a cheap
camera, lsusb shows it to be a "Vega USB 2.0 Camera" . This is in the
uvcvideo supported list. I can only grab 160x120 images. Lots of older

Never mind about the password, I didn't read what it was asking for

Everything's good now. Thanks for the help. I was able to flash the latest
image, it took a couple tries, but it's in. I can now boot from the SD card.
What is the default sudo password? I want to install some software.
Thanks again,

Thanks for your replies. I tried the "boot button down" in the image and it
boots up fine. Thanks. I am now trying to flash the emac with an updated
image. I downloaded "BBB-eMMC-flasher-debian-7.5-2014-05-14-2gb.img.xz",
checked the shasum and dd'd as before. I inserted to the SD and held the
I just tried the SD card in a different BBB. It works fine. THere's

I'm trying to make an SD card with the latest Jessie img. I downloaded
"bone-debian-8.7-iot-armhf-2017-03-19-4gb.img.xz"
to my mac and checked the shasum. I decompressed it and used "dd
if=bone-debian-8.7-iot-armhf-2017-03-19-4gb.img
of=/dev/diskX bs=1m" to write to it.
Here's the BBB boot con
I want to switch to Debian. Does the gpiolibs and device tree stuff stay

My BBB just flashed. I re-downloaded and extracted the image, remade the
microSD image and flashed it. This was the 4th or 5th attempt, but it
worked. I have no idea why this time worked and the others didn't.

I'm having a similar problem and just created a post. Are you using
BBB-eMMC-flasher-2013.09.04.img.xz? My BBB blinks LEDs for about 10 minutes
before hanging. I can boot from the SD card, so I'm trying to see if I can
copy the root to the eMMC and start up that way. Can you boot off the SD?

I am running Angstrom from the microSD. I want to copy it to the onboard
eMMC and boot from there. I've tried a number of things. I tried using
BBB-eMMC-flasher-2013.09.04.img. The install fails, I never see all the
LEDs lit. I've used mkfs.ext3 to create the eMMC partition, then rsync'd /
