According to the ActiveState docs I have, the environment variables you need
to set are:
HTTP_proxy
HTTP_proxy_user
HTTP_proxy_pass
For instance:
HTTP_proxy=http://proxy.yourdomain.com:portnumber
HTTP_proxy_user=youruserid
HTTP_proxy_pass=yourpassword
