Thanks for your prompt responses! I found the problem while poking around on the machine this weekend. It turns out that, somehow, the libegl1-mesa package was corruptly installed, so that 'libEGL.so.1' could not be found. After I uninstalled and then reinstalled the package, everything was fine.
