Hi, Tom & Joni I had my BMD, Doppo, neutered at 12 months. I'd meant to have it done before, but between having my schanuzer in intensive care due to an accident and my own postponing, it only happened at that age. Comparing the experience with that of several cases of early netuers in other dogs ( I volunteer with mixed breed dog resscue and have fostered a share of recently neutered pups) I can only say the earlier the better as far as recovery is concerned. Doppo was quite sore for a few days and it was NOT fun to have a full grown berner bumping his elizabethan collar into our legs for a week. After a week everyhting was fine but I regret not having had it done earlier, as with the younger dogs I dealt with recovery was far faster!
