Hello,
Hope this goes across o.k.

Laura,
I have used this dog cookie recipe exclusively for 10 years. I have yet
to meet a dog that refuses these tasty cookies. After the treats are
baked they remain soft and chewy, do NOT crumble in your pocket, are NOT
slimly and don't smell (to me anyway) like liver - more like garlic. I

Hi Laura,
The reason those store bought soft treats are soft is because they have
sugar and a host of gooey type preservatives. I buy beef heart (butcher
trims and cuts into chunks) and simmer slowly on the stove with garlic, let
it cool and trim into thin strips, blot with paper towel and spread
slice a package of hot dogs thinly, about 25-30 slices per hot dog, then
microwave for 7-8 mins for a package.
chedder cheese (or any smellier cheese) chopped into small chunks.
Cheerios and/or Chex cereal in a baggie w/ a little bit of garlic powder
and/or parmasean cheese sprinkled/grated i
I use London Broil, cooked, sliced thin.

We like to take liver, chill till it is firm as it slices much easier, cut
into slices about 1/4 inch thick.
Place on cookie sheet, sprinkle lightly with garlic powder,, not garlic
salt. and dry in oven at 200 to 250 till firm, not hard. Then cut it into
1/4 to 1/2 inch cubes.

I agree with Marjie with the string cheese. It's a wonderful training treat,
keeps well in your pocket or treat pouch,
dosent smell up your van like forgotten pieces of liver,
(don't ask, haha)
and best of all, it's a small snack for yourself on those long hikes,
drafting work, parades etc

The very best and easiest treat I've used is string cheese. Its a miracle dog
training substance! It sticks to things (like go-out posts,) it can be shoved
into a binder clip (for heads up heeling,) its not gross to dangle from your
mouth (for fronts,) its also not gross when spitting a reward
not a recipe but there are great soft treats from www.sitstay.com

I use BilJac a lot. That's the frozen dog food. I just defrost, and form
into balls and refreeze the balls. Then I take out a ball of the correct
size for training that day and give the dog small bits of it as a reward.
There are some crumbs but not a lot and the food is soft so goes down

I buy high quality deli turkey in a 3/8"-1/2" slab. Cut into cubes and
freeze laying flat in a ziploc bag. When
I would be interested in a recipe also, the stinkier
the better :-)

Hi Laura,
If you have a food dehydrater you could make any variety of jerky treats for
your puppy and cut them bite size.
Or you could cook liver and cut it up into bite size pieces too.

Does anyone have a recipe for soft treats that won't
crumble? I have pawed back through the older digests,
but have only been able to find recipes for biscuits.
I'm looking for something simple to use for my
9-month-old Berner pup for our obedience classes.
