Tail chasing should be discouraged, take the opportunity to distract the
puppy with a toy or suitable chewie. The puppy will quickly learn that
circling after his own tail gets your attention and it can develop into a
neurotic behaviour in the adult dog. If puppy is chasing someone else's

Sisco used to chase his tail all the time up until he was about 2 yrs. old.
When he caught it, he would sort of pause and then rotate slowly with it in his
mouth until he lost interest and went back to general frapping.
