OK; progress - of a sort. Under the Compilation heading in Music Library
with "Group Compilations" and "List Albums by Band" selected, and a full
rescan I now have Artists! Go figure...

In SC 7 Fishbone Album view, if you select an Album a pop-up Window shows up
for you to select songs; but it appears right at the top of the left pane,
so you have to scroll all the way back up a long list to see it.
Could it be set to open up where you happen to be?

I tried it about 10 times as well spread out over the last few hours.
No errors, md5sum always correct.

I want to try it with windows, and my own mysql server. But where do I
have to change the config-variables? In SS6, there was the
"slimserver.pref" but I don't know where to edit in SC7?

I presume you are running SC7. What version of SC7 and which beta of
AlienBBC are you using ?
It looks like Scrobbler could be interfering. Can you so a log with
player.source, player.streaming and plugins.alienBBC all set to Info.

For what it's worth, Patrick Dixon's suggestion to delete the
/usr/share/squeezecenter/Bin directory and restart SC7 fixed the
problems I have been having upgrading my system using the debian
package. I am running Squeezecenter on a fairly up-to-date Ubuntu
Gutsy server box that I also use to run
The adress was the same :( And now I have also tryed to unistall my
antivirus. That did not help much either I am afraid... :( I am pretty
close to giving up

It looks like ubuntu use avahi rather than mdnsresponder - so there is
no mdnsresponder built for ubuntu.
(I have no idea what I'm talking about here, but this is what I surmise
from trying to install mdnsresponder on feisty and then googling when it
wasn't available).

BTW that network test doesn't look all that good. 3000 kbps, all
samples are below 10%. You should be able to get 3000 kbps.
