Do you also see RandomPlay fail? Not sure whether this is related to that
change. It doesn't find lasPlayed any more - might have been moved to the new
Just thinking out loud here but is there a way to have SC determine if a
file has been created vs been modified? If so then that would be a way
to keep the modified out of the new music list. I don't know if it's
possible or how hard it would be.

Typically, yes
I think the scanner should read the creation time and modification time.
When scanning for new and changed music, it should look for
modification times that are newer than the last scan time.
The Creation timestamp should be used for ordering on Browse New
Albums.
This may not be full-proof,
Only if the tool edits the file in place, I have come across tools in
the past that create a temporary file, copy the contents of the file
making changes as it goes and then remove the original file. It which
point your new file has identical creation and modification dates. :(

Mp3Tag creates temporary files, but it still maintains the
creation/modification times correctly.
It's more likely to be correct - if a tool causes creation time to be
touched to the same time as the modification time, then it's equivalent
to reading the modification time. However, if a tool

I don't like automatic rescans at startup. It's nicer to be told that
a rescan is needed, or clear the DB without starting a rescan. The

My transporter is currently wired, but my wireless network doesn't use a
passphrase (I use a 64 digit hex key too) so I'd be interested in having
this fixed as I intend to use the wireless connection in the near
future.

Well if the database is out of sync with the server code then it needs
to be rescanned - which is the logic that triggers this. Although it
hits the cpu, players should still be usable?
The problem is that the HD may be thrashed if it is busy doing something else.
