Generally (I've noticed this in a lot of places) an artist in German is
either an Interpret or - in the case of all artist roles being used in
the artist list it would probably best be called Künstler (because a
composer is not an Interpret).
In no case would Artist be the correct translation,
The list albums by band option otoh is being used when displaying
albums (in some places only, as mentioned above). It is one of the prefs
I'd have to defer to Phil as to what this option should or could be used
for. In the other recent thread on the subject, he mentioned a situation
