Yes, I've seen this to in Opera (which is based on Chrome). May be it is an idea to redesign the buttons with a more modern approach, like Google's material design. I though there was a thread where you could post some webui changes but can't find it any more. I think the current design does

Right. If the images are no longer needed for the rounded corners, seems like things like this could easily be eliminated, with the corners added to the adjacent div and increasing their height or padding. Code:

One small issue that I see in your Default skin is the button at the bottom left of the playlist pane is broken up in Chrome. Looks fine in Firefox. Yeah, saw this yesterday. I didn't notice before, as it's fine in Safari. BTW: the other thread about the web UI was http://forums.slimdevices.co
